Greens for breakfast anyone?! And without eggs. Rather spinach, kale and full of whole grains organic Nature’s Path Love Crunch Granola Aloha blend, which is not only delicious but also socially and environmentally responsible (see below). Not savoury, not overly sweet, just the right amount of everything good for us and tasty. Because no matter how healthy meal is, if it is not tasty who wants to eat it, right?!

I have been craving all things beachy, minty and pineapple-y lately. That is February for you with dreamy sky rocketing vacation price tags and reality of TV and a couch. But I won’t complain because there is nothing really to complain about.

I do truly love this new Aloha blend Love Crunch granola. It has big clusters, dehydrated pineapple pieces and white chocolate chunks. It is hard to find organic white chocolate in my area so me and 5 year old enjoyed picking it out from the bag. Or you can use granola as a recipe topper and main ingredient which I gladly did for my mint green smoothie bowl. I also like to take the whole bag when we go skiing and pack in small pouches for kids’ lunch boxes.

Now to demystify how Love Crunch is socially responsible. For every bag of Love Crunch you buy, Nature’s Path Organic will donate the equivalent in cash and organic food to the food bank, up to $1 million a year. That is part of the Bite4Bite program.

I received an email from a concerned reader about the calorie count in my recipes, especially the ones using granola. I would like to demystify this fact as well.:) A few years ago I was into counting calories A LOT thus you see it on my recipes. Now, I focus more on quality of food that goes into my body. I do not count calories but if I did you would see me eating 2,500-3,000 calories a day on many days. That breaks many charts probably. I eat as I get hungry and I embrace all groups of foods. That said, organic premium granola does make onto my menu. I would be lying if I said I eat granola daily but moderation is key to my healthy, happy and balanced life. I feel great, my tests are great and I’m happy not to count anything but rather enjoy healthy food.

I would be naive to think nutrition comments will stop from now on. And it’s OK, they are fun…:)

Since it is February citrus and tropical fruit are in their glory in North American supermarkets. Grab what you feel like and top your mint green smoothie bowl with them. Don’t forget more granola on top because this smoothie bowl is not sweet at all and that crunch is totally worth it.

You can find Love Crunch at your favourite grocery or natural food retailer, as well as at well.ca (Canada), Nature’s Path online shop (US only) or use US store locator.
